I am a user researcher, UX design educator, artist, and bartender.
I currently work at Microsoft on the Growth + Horizontals team as a Design Researcher II. Our team focuses on the Microsoft 365 consumer lifecycle journey across free, trial, and paid subscriptions. My research helps PMs, designers, and content programmers create engagement experiences that improve customer awareness of features across the suite, increasing trial conversion and subscription renewal. My work impacts business and product strategy. I decide my research projects based on what I'm learning from customers, what my stakeholders need, and what objectives and key results the business is targeting.
At Microsoft, I am a member of the Inclusive Research Initiative, helping to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion in our product making decisions. We aim to do this by increasing participation of historically excluded groups in user research, which requires purposeful adjustments to every phase of research.
In 2019, I co-led the development of the inaugural UX design apprenticeship program at Microsoft, LEAP Design. I helped our team of designers create a world class curriculum in UX design and was the primary instructor for the program. LEAP was created as one channel for increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion at Microsoft. The program focuses on finding and developing talent through non-traditional recruitment streams, such as community colleges and bootcamps. LEAP Design was highly successful and continues as an evergreen program.
